The text of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is difficult and mystifying for most readers. Both teachers and students struggle for many years with little success in unlocking the secrets to understanding this Course. They often abandon their studies and end up confused and discouraged. This ACIM for Dummies series cuts thorough the mystery of the Course’s esoteric text and makes Jesus’ message alive and accessible to the ordinary reader. The richness and simplicity of ACIM’s message of freedom, joy and unconditional love awaits anyone who is willing to see things differently. The Course states that “Perception is a mirror, not a fact.” Once decoded, it provides the formula that transforms and empowers the reader so that they are both free and capable of seeing things differently. You can exchange your fear-based thought system for the peace of God. Happiness is only a choice away and you can make that choice today. This is your time to shine.
ACIM uses a unique terminology that references two different levels of being that are dominated by two opposing thought systems. This book demystifies the text by replacing the pronouns and unclear references with their meanings and clarifies the appropriate level associated with each passage. All antecedent references made to ACIM’s second edition are clearly noted in bold print for easy reference to the original text. Each text paragraph is then followed by an explanatory note to assist the reader in their own interpretation of the paragraph. These notes are designed to foster discussion and clarity, not to limit ideas and prevent individual interpretation. As such, ACIM for Dummies can be utilized as either a primary or secondary text for independent or group study. ACIM for Dummies is an excellent reference tool for those who seek a deeper level of understanding of the Course’s teachings.
This is the complete edition of A COURSE IN MIRACLES FOR DUMMIES. It covers the entire ACIM text which consists of 31 chapters.
Because of publishing size restrictions, it is sold in paperback as two separate volumes. Volume I covers Chapters #1-15 of ACIM's text. Volume II covers Chapters #16-31 of ACIM's text.
What instructors and students are saying around the world about the clarity and ease of understanding that is found in A Course in Miracles for Dummies.
“This book provides an insightful student of the Course assistance in understanding the Text's passages. ACIM for Dummies is invaluable to clarify what various words refer to. For me the "notes" are more than worth the price of this book and could easily serve to support individual study or be the focus for a group discussion. I facilitated a group for 18 years in Colorado and am enthused about starting another group using ACIM for Dummies!” B. Kent
“I bought A Course in Miracles for Dummies and I cannot believe how wonderful it is and easy to understand ACIM! Sorry for my spelling in English as I am Spanish.” F. Perez-Chies
“I have been studying A Course in Miracles for a number of years without much success in truly understanding what I was reading. Then I came across ACIM for Dummies and began to understand the meaning behind the words. It has helped me to accept myself and everyone I meet with love and respect and most importantly, I have learned to "honor their journey." It has been a wonderful way to understand and interpret for myself the beautiful words of Jesus.” N. Harwood
“I've had over 20+ years experience working with ACIM. Tom's insightful writing of ACIM for Dummies has certainly shed some valuable new light on some of the more difficult passages. Tom is skilled at articulating the beautiful messages being transmitted throughout ACIM. Definitely a piece of work to have at your right hand while studying ACIM.” T. Rice

The only criticism I have of this work is that there are errors in almost every original entry from the author.First, the part that is really helpful. This book provides the actual text from The Course, but ensures reader comprehension by carrying the subject through the paragraph vs. substituting pronouns. For instance, an excerpt might read originally this way:
"Yes, you are blessed indeed. 2 Yet in this world you do not know that. 3 But you have the means for learning this quite clearly,"
Then Wakefield's book would have it as, "Yes, you are blessed indeed. 2 Yet in this world you do not know that you are blessed indeed. 3 But you have the means for learning that you are blessed indeed and seeing that you are blessed indeed quite clearly," which is very helpful considering the tone and structure of ACIM.
Next, Wakefield provides a more common interpretation after the text. But the translation using common language, does have at least one error in every entry. I've become an amateur editor making a game of finding the error(s)! These errors aren't typos. They are things like 'The' instead of 'They' or 'Image' instead of 'Imagine'. It's easy enough to maneuver around, but it does lower the credibility of the entire work, and that's a shame. Here is one I just pulled at random:
"Because we do not realize our true nature, we do not even attempt to test our capability of dong a given task."

A Course In Miracles for Dummies edition by Thomas Wakechild Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is a fantastic book and belongs on the bookshelf for every student, first time or the more studied, of ACIM. I have been using this book in my course work since it became available a few weeks ago. I have really fouls it to be an invaluable resource. ACIM's language, while absolutely beautiful, can take time to understand the meanings of the words and structure. This book helps pull the language together in a way that is approachable. This, coupled with the notes that have been added by Mr. Wakechild, has deepened my understanding of the course.
Many people get confused about what various pronouns in the Course refer to, e.g. "his," "its." Sometimes the referent is unclear. This modification of the Course substitutes the referent for the pronoun, making the meaning clearer, although sometimes at the sacrifice of smooth reading. In my opinion, with a little effort most intelligent people can do this for themselves without the need of a book like this.
We read a few paragraphs most morning for 2 or 3 years. We never would have finished the text if it weren’t for the aid of this book. Some days it didn’t add to reading the text but many many times it did. Thanks You for writing this!
I like this book a lot. I was so frustrated by the Course in Miracles text because of its syntactical enigmas mainly. I never knew what "it" (for example) referred to in a book full of enigmas. This book by Wakefield does a lot to ameliorate that. So I use it as a e- book along side the hard copy. It has a lot of errors in it and as an editor myself, this is frustrating. Would be nice if that were changed. BUT, they are not errors in content so I could overlook it for the clarity it gave me to the actual content. As I go through it though, I wish he had had a copy editor look it over.
Oftentimes, when reading A Course in Miracles, I would find myself re-reading several lines of text because of the way it was originally written. I find this happens very often during our group study as well. There are many ways to deal with the convoluted sentence structures. One way I found was to read Liz Cronkhite's Message Of A Course In Miracles A Trans (Plain Language) which is a plain language translation of the text. This book is another way. Although the original text is what we start out with, we have to use whatever aids us in our quest to better understand its meaning. While there are many typos in this book, the level of improvement in capturing the course's essence completely overshadows these flaws. The author's own notes are incredibly helpful as well. I highly recommend this book for all course students wishing to deepen their understanding of the course.
At first I thought wow, what a worthy effort. But now that I have been through a few chapters I can see it can help or hinder understanding. As an example, look at T-5.II.2 the Holy Spirit becomes three ideas instead of three different aspects pointing out the "idea" of the Holy Spirit. At times I have wondered if Tom's native language is other than English; or perhaps it is simply typos, or proof reading needed. The profound beauty and deep experience in reading A Course in Miracles is lost in grasping each paragraph separately with its own explanation.
If simplicity is desired, try A Mini Course in Life, by Jampolsky. It bypasses all the study and puts you directly in place of choosing peace or conflict, rather than peace or conflict coming to you because of events happening in the world.
. . . It is now a week after posting this review, I have come to feel that the difficulty I have had with understanding the Course's language are due, perhaps, to the following two reasons the nature of language itself (the Concordance refers to articles, pronouns, prepositions, etc. as "noise" words. Why so? Because they refer to objects, time, and place as distinct separate things), and secondly, my fear of learning what will ultimately destroy me!
I purchased this kindle book back in June, 2013. Today I deleted it from my account as I have realized it is no longer needed. I appreciate the effort Mr. Wakechild put into this and I'm sure it will be helpful to many people. However, once one has a better understanding of the Text, it may be seen that resistance to living the Course is not due to a lack of intellectual understanding.
The only criticism I have of this work is that there are errors in almost every original entry from the author.
First, the part that is really helpful. This book provides the actual text from The Course, but ensures reader comprehension by carrying the subject through the paragraph vs. substituting pronouns. For instance, an excerpt might read originally this way
