During the summer of 2005, Dallas radio station reporter Marcus Franklin Agaston is stunned when his friend Catherine, a pregnant surrogate for a childless gay couple, goes missing. When Catherine’s body appears on the shoreline of Lake Ray Hubbard seven days later, Marcus begins searching for her killer.
While Marcus begins his hunt, his childhood friend’s demands for money threaten Marcus’s loyalty and propel Marcus’s husband Sam, a successful lawyer, into action. As Marcus uncovers clues to the killer’s identity, he must cope with betrayal from an unlikely source as a tragic event temporarily immobilizes him.
When Marcus finally comes face-to-face with the real culprit, their meeting is shocking, but not as disturbing as Marcus’s final discovery.

A Murder Among Friends caught my eye when I saw the cool jacket cover. I was curious and downloaded the book. After reading the first 2 chapters I was hooked and wanted to know who would commit such a heinous act on a defenseless pregnant woman. Without giving too much away the book deals with secrecy, jealousy, betrayal, and eventually murder. The book simultaneously explores same sex relationships and sibling rivalry. The question of what drives a person to commit murder is what will keep the reader turning the page. I enjoyed the characters Marcus and Sam, but I loved Eva Sue even more. Call me crazy, but I have a soft spot for the criminally insane. I recommend this book.Product details

A Murder Among Friends eBook Jennifer Lewis Williams Reviews
This is a well written murder mystery!!!!! The book keeps the reader captivated from beginning to end. My favorite character was Sam.... His actions in the book really surprised me!!!! Bring on book number two!!! This is a must read, I promise you will not be able to put it down.
Excellent "page turner!" I could not figure this one out. It is a mystery for mystery lovers. The characters (including the animals) were well developed and fit into a unique 21st Century story line stemming from surrogate mothers for gay couples, and then so much more happens!! I want this author to write a series for Sam and Marcus to evolve through . . . I did not want it to end. I recommend it to ALL mystery lovers.
I read this book after reading James Patterson's last 2 Alex Cross releases. I must say it made great company for those two. Amazing skills for a first timer! The ending definitely left me wanting more. I cannot wait to read the next release . . . a sequel? Anything to put all of my questions to rest? This is not one to read leisurely because the action moves and you have to stay sharp to keep the plot in order as it unwinds. Definitely a page turner! I will be talking about this one for some time!
I too read this book almost nonstop. Some things keep me from giving it a 5 rating, however
Why no one asked for id's when characters represented themselves as IRS or other investigators
Why Marcus was so enamored of Nicolas was not satisfactorily explained
How the arsonist set so many fires and was not apprehended is unrealistic
Many, many characters -- and some who showed up coincidentally to further the plot
Those criticisms did not keep me from enjoying the book, just made me suspend my disbelief. I'd recommend the book although it's not for everyone.
I read this book fairly quickly. I love me a good murder/mystery and entertwine some pretty unique friendships in and well, you've totally got my attention. From the get go, I absolutely fell in love with Sam and Marcus. There are so many tangled webs in this book that you really need to pay attention to who knows who and how. There were some relationships that I know won't be for everyone but I really enjoyed the different relationships. The friendships were real and sometimes it involved stuff that some of us like to forget exsists.
There were things that I questioned in this book, for example, there was embezzling going on, but no one ever noticed the missing funds, no one ever questioned when someone claimed to be a detective, and sometimes people were VERY forthcoming with classified information, but again, it is a book, and not real life.
The ending of this book really had me...well...almost mad! haha! The way the last 3 paragraphs happened just had me wanting to say, "Oh no he di'int!" and I kept trying to turn the page for more!!
I'd definitely recommend this book to fans of murder/mystery type novels.
This book was the best book I have read since the Color Purple, which happens to be my favorite. Reading A Murder Among Friends, kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn't stop reading it. My favorite characters were Eva Sue, and of course Sam. Sam's character took me by surprise, but I loved how he was portrayed. Get ready for some mystery, love plots, and some down right deceit. You will love this book, I promise. The author has me ready for the next one.
I normally do not read murder mysteries but this book came highly recommended so I tried it. It was very entertaining and had me on the edge of my seat. I could not put this book down! I loved the friendships and relationships depicted in the book and enjoyed that it was based in Dallas where I live. The scenes came alive in my imagination. I appreciate the author revealing subtle clues so I could try to be a super sleuth along with one of the characters. I was surprised and pleased that I absolutely did not see the end coming. This was a quick read that I did not want to see end and I am anxiously awaiting the sequel.
